This tick removal key which looks like a giant needle threader is the best invention since dark chocolate and French fries! This is such an easy way to remove ticks from your dog or cat. It fits neatly into your pocket but also has a hole where you can attach a carabiner and hang it from a belt loop or handbag. I've come across a variety of different kinds of tick removers but I like this one the best for its ease of use and quickness in getting the job done whether the tick is en route to its bloody destination or already embedded. Whenever Kumason and I are out taking a walk through the woods in the summer months, I always pull my socks above my pants so ticks don't crawl up my pants--and believe me, they are fast crawlers! I recommend always checking your dog or cat for ticks and especially before you go into your home. Ticks like warm places so they often gravitate under the armpits. I often find them on Kumason's neck or around his head as he is a ground sniffer. I'm lucky he's a white dog because they are easy to see. If you have a dark colored dog or cat, you can still feel them. If you have a dog with a double coat, like me, it may take a little longer to feel a tick that has already embedded itself as you have to feel way down to the scalp. It's a good idea to try and avoid local tick hangouts like tall grasses.
